Help - Hex Calculator Help

Using the Hex Calculator

  1. Select Hex or Dec(imal) mode.
  2. Click numbers then press the ENT (enter) or appropriate function button.
  3. Click numbers then press the appropriate function button.

Notes

  1. The decimal point is only functional in the DEC mode.
  2. Decimal equivalent numbers are actually used for all computations.
  3. Hex "negative" numbers may display more sign bits than the number requires.

Example 1

  1. In DEC mode, press "2" then "ENT". Then press "3" and then "+". The answer 5 appears at the top display.

Example 2

  1. In HEX mode, press "1" then "INV" which inverts all bits. The answer "e" at the top represents binary "1110" assuming the original entry was a 4 bit wide number.
